My Imagination, Laney Burn's debut album, is a deeply soulful, genre-spanning collection blending bebop jazz with gospel stylings. Produced by Grammy Award–winner Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), with masterful arrangements by Grammy Award–winner Bill Cunliffe, it moves effortlessly from Al Jarreau-inspired grooves to timeless jazz standards. The album captivates with its inviting warmth, rich textures, and velvety tones.
Having sung in Paris, Salvador’s in London, The Village Gate in New York City, and Birdland West in Los Angeles, Laney Burn debuts her first album, My Imagination produced by Jimmy Haslip, multi-grammy award winner (Yellowjackets.)
Laney sang weekly with the Cedar Walton (Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers) Quartet at Birdland West and performed at Masquer’s Cafe on Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles. She also sang regularly at the House of Blues, Gospel Brunch, with the Gospel Choir, Trenora Parker and the Los Angeles Cathedral Choir for seven years. In addition, she backed up Donna Summer and Shirley Lee Ralph.
She worked with Bobby McFerrin in the documentary film The Life of Bobby McFerrin, who inspired her with his words, “The sky’s the limit!” Other influences include Al Jerreau, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, and Betty Carter.
